Under	sotto (a)	Your bag is under the desk.
below	sotto (ma non sulla stessa verticale)	You can see ....
above	sopra (senza contatto e sulla stessa verticale o meno, si indica soprattutto la differenza di livello)	The plane is flying above the clouds
over	sopra (senza contatto solo sulla stessa verticale, si indica solo la posizione)	They are building a bridge over the river.
near	vicino (a)	Your glasses are near the book.
next to	accanto (a)	Paul is next to Jane.
close to	vicino a (indica una vicinanza maggiore rispetto a near; è usato spesso per indicare vicinanza affettiva)	Jane lives close to Mary.
beside	accanto a (indica stretta vicinanza, contiguità)	There's a new girl beside Paul.
in front of	davanti a	Jane's car is in front of yours.
behind	dietro (a)	Jane's car is behind yours.
opposite	di fronte a	Why don't you sit opposite me?
By	accanto, vicino, per mezzo di	Stand by me John went to London by train
Between	tra, fra (fra due, singoli o gruppi, di persone o cose)	I am between Paul and Mary
