Uso Forma Esercizi

Must, come tutti i verbi modali, è seguito da un verbo alla forma base. Si usa per esprimere un obbligo, un dovere o una proibizione.

Must si usa al presente e al futuro. Per gli altri tempi si ricorre a have to seguito dalla forma base del verbo.

Must viene usato per:

Dare un ordine: You must be careful with that knife!

Proibire qualcosa: Visitors must not feed the animals.

Raccomandare fortemente a qualcuno di non fare qualcosa: Remember your promise, John! You mustn't tell anyone.

Raccomandare caldamente qualcosa: This cake is delicious. You must taste it.

Dire che dobbiamo personalmente dover fare o non fare qualcosa: I must leave early if I want to avoid the rush hour.

Nei regolamenti e negli avvisi pubblici per indicare un dovere assoluto o un divieto:

Passengers must turn off mobile phones on the plane.

Nelle deduzioni quando siamo sicuri di qualcosa: They are very good jeans. They must be expensive.

Attenzione nelle deduzioni la forma negativa di must è can't (cannot) e non mustn't (must not)

They aren't very good jeans. They can't be exprensive.
